Skip Gomibo.be if you need to hold the phone
If you want to stand in a Brussels aisle and try the cameras, skip Gomibo.be. If you want a clerk to pull the old SIM and walk you through the new one at a counter, skip it. If you need same-hour repair after a drop, skip it. There is no Belgian flagship. The Groningen office at Waagstraat 1 will not hand you a box. Pickup there is not offered. You are barking up the wrong tree if you treat the .be domain like a night shop you can pop into after work.
Stay away if your airtime must remain tied to a Proximus, Orange, or Base contract you already signed, unless you are only buying the hardware. Stay away from sealed in-ear buds you plan to wear on the tram and then send back; hygiene rules charge twelve euros fifty when those buds come back dirty. The cooling-off window is real. It is not a fitting room.
Rewind: the Belgian checkout sits on a Groningen packing bench
What you are actually opening is gomibo.be, the Belgian site of Gomibo, the European name of Dutch telecom retailer Belsimpel. MobielWerkt B.V. runs it. The registered office is Waagstraat 1, 9712 JX Groningen, with mail going to Postbus 3023, 9701 DA Groningen. Kamer van Koophandel 02093714 and Belgian VAT BE0541536350 sit on the About page. You cannot collect at that street. There is no desk in Groningen that will pass you the carton. Belgian callers use 03 808 35 45 or freephone +32 (0)800 58 303, weekdays 09:00 to 21:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 17:00, in English, Dutch, and German.
Two Groningen students, Jeroen Doorenbos and Jeroen Elkhuizen, started in 2006 with Metjelaptoponline.nl. Belsimpel.nl came next. Both were housed under MobielWerkt B.V. by 2008. Gomibo as an international name arrived in November 2020 with Gomibo.de. Belsimpel announced the Belgian gomibo.be launch on 18 May 2021, saying the Belsimpel name in Flanders would give way and a French tree would follow for Wallonia. That French path now lives at gomibo.be/fr. The About page still claims more than six hundred smartphones and own-warehouse stock, with delivery in one to two working days when the unit is on the shelf.
Who this warehouse actually suits
It suits a Belgian household that already knows the model — or at least the size and brand — and wants SIM-free EU stock plus a cover cut for that chassis. It also suits someone replacing a cracked shell or a tired USB-C brick without walking into a mall. Bancontact clears at once and carries no surcharge. Standalone phones and accessories travel without a Belgian postage line. You get thirty-one days after delivery to send most goods back, longer than the fourteen-day distance-selling floor.
Picture a Sunday in a packed hallway. Last week's cardboard is already blocking the door. The landlord will not take parcels. You are in the shower when Bpost rings, and a handset will not go through the letterbox. That is the ordinary mess this shop is built around, not a vague busy lifestyle. PostNL letter post works for thin accessories. Pickup points at Bpost or PostNL keep the carton off an empty stoop. Buying here is like ordering a spare house key cut from a photo: Groningen will cut it if you sent the right measurements, but nobody stands at your lock and wiggles the blade.
I am repeating the pickup point because people keep missing it. You cannot collect at Waagstraat. You also cannot walk into a Belgian Gomibo counter, because that counter does not exist. The substitute is a PostNL or Bpost shelf you choose in the cart. If you are never home, that shelf is the whole plan.
Who should close the tab
Close is a cleaner word than later. If any line below is you, the Bancontact button is a waste of a Sunday. The carrier shop, a repair bench, or a marketplace with a local locker may fit better.
- You need to hold the phone, test the cameras, or negotiate a trade-in in person
- You want a clerk to migrate the SIM at a till
- You need the Groningen office or a Belgian flagship as a pickup desk
- Your plan must stay bundled with a Proximus, Orange, or Base contract you already signed, unless you only want the hardware
- You plan to wear sealed in-ear buds and then send them back
- You need same-hour repair; warranty work goes to brand-certified partners and usually takes five to ten working days after they start
- You need delivery to the Canary Islands, Madeira, Greenland, or listed French overseas territories
Open Gomibo.be and filter by your model If you already know the chassis, open gomibo.be, match the case to that model, and read the live Belgian delivery line before Bancontact.
What I actually opened on 27 September 2026
I reopened gomibo.be on 27 September 2026 and dated that check because the homepage tiles move. SIM-free EU handsets sat next to cases and chargers, with Belgian shipping shown at zero on the hardware I could see. I am not going to invent a flagship sticker or a mid-range figure. Those amounts were unpublished the moment I refused to copy a live tile that would be stale by Monday. The About page still names Apple and Samsung beside other SIM-free brands. Read the product page you will actually pay.
Accessories are the second half of the cart, not a souvenir aisle. Cases filter by the exact chassis. Chargers wait in a grab-and-go row. I will not stack wattages and article numbers. The concrete object that matters is the line on the packing slip: a TPU back cover matched to the phone you typed in, or a USB-C brick that fits the port you already own. Filter first. Then look at the Belgian delivery sentence on that page. A cover cut for the wrong generation is a pretty brick.
SIM-only plans and phone-plus-subscription bundles exist on the same site. Monthly airtime is billed by the network, not by Gomibo. I am not walking those plan grids here. If you only wanted the handset without a plan, keep the cart on hardware. Mixing a contract into the box changes the postage line and the return rules.
Three taps, then wait for the shipment mail
Checkout is three moves, as the shop writes it: use the on-site comparer, hit the green order button, then watch for the shipment mail. You choose a carrier option in the cart, type your details, and pay. The estimate on a product page updates when you switch country. Trust the line on the order-status page after payment, not the earlier tile. Keep a working inbox. Track-and-trace comes by email. If a subscription is in the cart, the fastest path they name is Abonnement zonder gedoe, signed with iDEAL or an SMS check. Paper contract plus an ID upload takes longer.
On the payment page, Bancontact, a bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and a Gomibo voucher all clear without a surcharge. Bancontact, cards, Maestro, and vouchers land at once. A transfer sits one to two working days until ING Groningen sees the money; the IBAN is NL12INGB0005726296 and the order number has to be the reference. Credit cards stop at three thousand euros per order. One voucher per checkout, and it will not split. Money after a return goes back to the original method within five working days once Gomibo has the goods. EU firms can ask for a zero-percent VAT invoice through the contact form if the delivery address matches the VAT file.
Extra costs, said in words
I am not printing a price table. The extra lines are few, and they are written in words on the Verzending and payment pages. Hardware to a Belgian door is usually the quiet part. The noisy part is a phone sold with a subscription, a card over the cap, or a parcel headed outside the EU table.
- Bancontact, Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro: no surcharge, instant; cards limited to three thousand euros per order
- Bank transfer to Gomibo Groningen: no surcharge, one to two working days, IBAN NL12INGB0005726296
- One Gomibo voucher per checkout; product groups and expiry sit in the code email
- Standalone phone, accessories, prepaid, and SIM-only inside Belgium: no postage on the methods the shop marks as available
- Phone sold with a subscription: four euros ninety-five by parcel or either pickup point
- EU parcels: no postage as listed; Norway, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland: no postage by letter, nine euros ninety-five by parcel
- Dirty in-ear returns: twelve euros fifty cleaning fee
- EU business zero-percent VAT: send the order number and VAT ID through the contact form
- Change the delivery address only before dispatch
A letterbox case versus a parcel you have to meet
On the Verzending page, Belgian hardware postage is a short list. A standalone phone goes by parcel, or to a PostNL or Bpost pickup, at no extra line. Letter post is marked not applicable because a handset will not fit a mailbox. Accessories, prepaid, and SIM-only use letter, parcel, and both pickup networks at no extra line. A phone sold with a subscription is the exception at four euros ninety-five. Gomibo also writes that EU parcels go at no extra line. Norway, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are no extra line by letter and nine euros ninety-five by parcel. Several regions are blocked.
Carriers are PostNL and Bpost via DHL. On a weekday, order before 22:00 for PostNL next-day, or before 17:30 for DHL and Bpost next-day, when the item is in stock. Letter-post SIM-only and thin accessories take two to three working days and do not require you at home. Trust the cutoff printed on the unit you actually buy. Stock labels range from twenty-four hours / in stock through two to four or five to seven working days, weeks, sold out, and pre-order. If you miss the courier, a digital card tells you the next attempt or pickup shelf. A Groningen post-office box on a Belgian-looking homepage is not a design accident. It is the company.
Thirty-one days, once Find My is actually off
You get thirty-one days from the last item landing, and you do not have to give a reason. Once the return is registered, you have fourteen days to put the goods back in the post. The account emails a label and a QR code at no extra line. The shop says the purchase price plus standard shipping comes back within five working days, minus extras such as registered postage. Gomibo may hold that refund until the parcel is on its bench. Factory-reset the handset and, on Apple devices, switch off Find My. Otherwise the return does not start.
> The thirty-one day window only helps if the box, cables, and unused buds go back together. A phone still locked to Find My is not a reversal. The label in your inbox is useless until that toggle is off. > > — Sophie Winters
They want the product as unused as you can reasonably manage, complete, with the factory box and the bits that came in it still intact. In-ear products have to stay unused for hygiene. Dirty buds trigger that twelve euros fifty cleaning fee. You cannot withdraw subscriptions, custom-made goods, sealed hygiene items once opened, or sealed software once the seal is broken. If you bought a phone with a plan and only want to swap the handset, keep the SIM out of the return box. Write to MobielWerkt B.V., Waagstraat 1, 9712 JX Groningen, or info@gomibo.be. That is a Dutch warehouse process, not store credit at a Belgian till.
Two-year legal cover still ignores the drop you caused
Statutory guarantee and the maker's factory warranty both attach to a device sold through this shop. Phones and tablets get a two-year legal period, as Gomibo writes it. Factory cover, often one year, comes first; the second year continues under the legal regime. After a repair, whatever time is left keeps running until two years from the purchase date. Brand-certified workshops do the work with original parts. Manufacturing faults cost nothing, including postage of the fixed unit back to you. Drop, impact, water, dirt that affects function, and opening by an unauthorized third party sit outside guarantee. The workshop looks at the whole device and will not do a partial fix.
Open a repair in your account and a shipping label arrives at no extra line. Reset the device, disable Find My where it applies, pack it, and leave it at a PostNL point. Plan on five to ten working days after the workshop starts, longer if parts have to be ordered, then one to three days back through Gomibo. Accessories carry at least six months of cover; smartwatch bands are left out. Accessories under thirty euros can begin with a photo through the contact form. Optional Tulip Assist insurance, available until two weeks after dispatch, covers the first three months at no charge and is then monthly and cancellable; claims go through Tulip Assist, not Gomibo's phone queue.
Frequently asked questions about checkout
Does Gomibo.be only deliver inside Belgium?
No. Bancontact and Bpost pickup are built for Belgian shoppers, but the Verzending page also lists the rest of the EU plus Norway, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. EU parcels travel at no extra line. Norway, the UK, and Switzerland travel at no extra line by letter and nine euros ninety-five by parcel. Several regions are blocked. Switch the country in the cart so VAT and the delivery estimate refresh. For a Belgian door or pickup point, leave the country on Belgium.
Can I collect a Gomibo.be order in Groningen or at a Belgian store?
No. Waagstraat 1 will not hand you a carton, and the About page says so in plain language. Contact pages do not list a Belgian flagship either. The workaround is a PostNL or Bpost pickup point in the cart, at no extra line for standalone phones, accessories, prepaid, and SIM-only orders. A phone sold with a subscription still adds four euros ninety-five. Returns go out with the emailed label through PostNL. There is no Belgian till to argue with.
What if I return earbuds I already used?
In-ear products are hygiene goods on this site. Unused is the rule. Dirty buds cost twelve euros fifty to clean, and that same fee shows up if they go in for service. Break the seal on a hygiene item and withdrawal can vanish. A phone, a charger, or a TPU case is easier to inspect and post back than an earphone that already sat in your ear on the tram.
How long does a warranty repair take, and is drop damage included?
Budget five to ten working days after the certified workshop opens the ticket, then another one to three days for the warehouse to send it home. Parts delays stretch that. Drop, water, crush, and dirt sit outside both factory and statutory cover as Gomibo writes them. You get a quote and can refuse the work, and you may still owe investigation costs if you are out of cover. A manufacturing defect comes back at no charge. Reset first. Find My off. The workshop will not start if those toggles are still on.
Is there a French shop for Wallonia, and who answers the phone?
Yes. Wallonia gets the French tree at gomibo.be/fr, which is what the 2021 launch promised. Email support is described as multilingual. Call 03 808 35 45 in English, Dutch, or German, weekdays 09:00 to 21:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 17:00. Have the order number ready. Your account page is still faster than the phone. Press goes to press@gomibo.com; privacy goes to privacy@gomibo.com.
Can I change the delivery address after I pay?
Only before dispatch. After the warehouse has handed the carton to PostNL or DHL, you follow the carrier, not the shop's address form. If you work from an office some weeks and a flat on others, set the right door in the cart. A packed hallway and a landlord who refuses parcels is a reason to pick a Bpost or PostNL point up front, not a reason to email after the label is printed.
When does Bancontact actually start the warehouse packing?
When the payment clears. Bancontact, cards, Maestro, and a valid voucher are treated as immediate. A bank transfer is not. The warehouse waits until ING Groningen sees the money, usually one to two working days, and your order number has to be the reference or the matching takes longer. Credit cards still stop at three thousand euros. If you want the cutoff for next-day PostNL — 22:00 on a weekday, stock permitting — Bancontact is the method that actually makes that cutoff real. A transfer started at 21:00 does not.
Pay on Gomibo.be when the model is already decided Open gomibo.be, confirm the thirty-one day return line and the Belgian shipping sentence on your item, then use Bancontact if you want Groningen to start packing the same day.
